The fish comes first.

There are tarpon fisheries almost everybody knows.
Then there are places that make you stop scrolling through a map and wonder:
What is happening over there?
Those places interest us just as much.
Tarpon Dreams is not trying to create the largest possible directory of places where somebody once caught a tarpon.
We are interested in destinations that are actually worth understanding.
That means looking at more than a pin on a map. 
We want to know:
How good is the fishing?
What type of tarpon are present?
Are they resident fish, migratory fish, juveniles, giant adults, or some combination?
How accessible is the destination?
Are there good guides?
Are there legitimate fishing lodges?
Can you get there without turning the trip into an expedition before you ever step onto a boat?
Is the lodging good?
What can a spouse, family member, or non-fishing traveler do?
Would we go back?
Most importantly:
Would we confidently recommend the destination to somebody we care about?
That is a much higher standard than simply saying fish exist there.

Whenever possible, Tarpon Dreams is built around actual experience.

We do not expect every destination to be perfect.
In fact, some of the most useful information may be explaining exactly who a destination is right for and who should probably choose somewhere else.

Famous Fisheries and Overlooked Water
Some fisheries have earned their reputation over decades.
Others remain surprisingly underrepresented.
Tarpon Dreams wants both.
A famous destination can still contain overlooked water.
A small lagoon can contain a remarkable fishery.
A destination primarily known for beaches, resorts, or nightlife may also contain tarpon that most visitors never know exist.
Finding those connections is part of the fun.
And occasionally...

Puerto Rico is a good example. (Maybe a Great Example...)
A traveler can land in San Juan and be remarkably close to serious tarpon habitat.
